Sens. Snowe and Dorgan Introduce Net Neutrality Bill (Coalition) Fri May 19, 2006 at 11:17:07, eBay, Google, IAC/InterActiveCorp, Microsoft and Yahoo! Commend Legislation

The six founding members of the Its Our Net Coalition issued the following statement on May 19:

We commend Senators Olympia Snowe (R-ME) and Byron Dorgan (D-ND) for their leadership in introducing a bill today that will protect Internet freedom for all Americans.

They provide a meaningful, bi-partisan solution that will maintain an open Internet and prevent broadband network operators from using their control over Internet access to control the experience of Internet users and compromise the vibrant Internet marketplace.

The Snowe-Dorgan bill will allow innovators, entrepreneurs and investors who rely on the certainty of that open marketplace to continue to fuel the engine of our nation's economy and our global leadership in internet technology and services.

Our companies join an ever-growing group of consumer and public interest groups, trade associations, bloggers, content and services companies, individuals and family and religious organizations who believe strongly in the open Internet and commend Senators Snowe and Dorgan on the introduction of this legislation. We look forward to working with the Senators, Members of the Commerce Committee and their staff to ensure that Snowe-Dorgan is a part of any telecommunications reform legislation undertaken by the Senate Commerce Committee this session.
